Episode 10 - Rob Walling on Micropreneurs, Global Economy and Stripe

We were so happy to have the one and only Rob Walling on this episode to talk to us about Micropreneurs and coders launching their own software products. He's done it many times and was gracious enough to answer a number of our specific questions about getting started down the Micropreneur route. If you've ever thought about wanting to launch your own software product, then definitely give this episode a listen. We also talked briefly about Stripe, a new payment gateway that is getting a lot of buzz lately.

Episode 8 - Octopress and Designers Who Code with Brandon Mathis!

We were very excited to get Brandon Mathis on this episode to talk about one of his projects, Octopress and also to chat about what it's like to be a designer who also writes code from time to time. Joe Fiorini also joins in the discussion as we talk about some possible changes to Octopress to make it useful as a podcasting site framework. Unfortunately, my co-host Derick Bailey couldn't be with us in this episode, but yours truly managed to hold down the fort. :)

I also start off this show by giving a brief history of Coder Talk, as requested by some of our listeners. Enjoy!

Episode 7 - Rails 3.1, Asset Pipeline, Upgrading Rails, Distributed Architecture, Message Queues and more!

Awesome discussions in this episode about Rails 3.1, the ups and downs of the Asset Pipeline and why it exists, pain points in upgrading Rails and software in general, the merits of splitting up your application into smaller chunks as well as the architecture and tools required to do so.  Listen in as Joey Beninghove (yours truly), Derick Bailey, Nathan Palmer, Mel Riffe, Joe Fiorini, Thomas Brewer and Tom Opgenorth discuss and yes, even disagree, on these topics!

Apologies for some of the background noise.  I was unable to track it down enough to get rid of it in this episode.  But I am continuing to work on our audio quality and it will hopefully get better over time.  Until then, bear with us and enjoy the content.  :)

Episode 6 - Micropreneurs, Getting your product to market, Pusher, Sinatra vs. Rails

We were incredibly happy to have Scott Watermasysk, co-founder of KickoffLabs, along with Thomas Brewer and Nathan Palmer on this episode.  We start off by talking about Micropreneurs and building, marketing and launching software products, from the perspective of a coder.  We also talk about some ways we're using Pusher and Twilio to build some great web applications.  Then we discuss when its appropriate to use Sinatra vs. Padrino vs. Rails.
